This past weekend Steve Fisher REGI's Environmental Education Coordinator, Evie Fisher, and I braved the bitter wind and snow flurries to celebrate the fall harvest in downtown Wausau. I'm not sure what happened to our fall. Its seems Wisconsin jumped from 80 degrees in September right into snow flurries in October!!! Even today the snow is flying and accumulating outside my window!
Despite the cold weather there were many families bundled up with hats and mittens enjoying the Harvest Festival. Live music, games, free pumpkins, hot food, and REGI's live raptors made the day full of fun.
It was great to see so many familiar faces stopping by to say hi. Kids and teachers that are lucky enough to attend the Wausau and D.C. Everest school forest programs in past years came to say hi to their favorite birds.
Many of the kids that came up to our booth remembered our birds by name from their school programs. REGI has so many special young friends that are so important to us and our birds.
Thanks for braving the cold and joining in on this wonderful community day.
